9th Biology Pairing Scheme 2026 – All Punjab Boards

This official pairing scheme is designed for all educational boards in Punjab. It provides a complete chapter‑wise breakdown of multiple‑choice, short, and long questions for the 9th class Biology annual examination 2026.

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

The MCQ section includes questions from all ten chapters covered in the scheme. According to the official distribution, the number of MCQs offered from each chapter is as follows:

  • Chapter 1 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 2 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 3 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 4 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 5 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 6 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 7 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 8 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 9 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 10 – 2 MCQs

Students should prepare all chapters thoroughly to secure full marks in this portion.

Short Questions – Three Sets (Q.2, Q.3, Q.4)

Students must attempt any 5 short questions from each of the three question sets. The pairing scheme clearly defines the number of questions offered from each chapter in every set, as detailed below:

  • Q. 2 – The short questions are offered from:
    • Chapter 1 – 4 questions
    • Chapter 2 – 2 questions
    • Chapter 3 – 2 questions
    (Total 8 questions are offered; students must attempt any 5.)
  • Q. 3 – The short questions are offered from:
    • Chapter 4 – 2 questions
    • Chapter 5 – 2 questions
    • Chapter 6 – 2 questions
    (Total 6 questions are offered; students must attempt any 5.)
  • Q. 4 – The short questions are offered from:
    • Chapter 7 – 2 questions
    • Chapter 8 – 3 questions
    • Chapter 9 – 3 questions
    • Chapter 10 – 2 questions
    (Total 10 questions are offered; students must attempt any 5.)

Long Questions – Three Sets (Q.5, Q.6, Q.7)

The long questions are divided into two parts (a and b) for each question number. The chapter pairing along with the marks allocation is clearly defined:

  • Q. 5 – Part (a) from Chapter 2 (5 Marks), Part (b) from Chapter 3 (4 Marks)
  • Q. 6 – Part (a) from Chapter 6 (5 Marks), Part (b) from Chapter 3 (4 Marks)
  • Q. 7 – Part (a) from Chapter 9 (5 Marks), Part (b) from Chapter 10 (4 Marks)

Marks Distribution

The total paper is structured with the following weightage:

  • 75% (45 Marks) – Knowledge‑based questions
  • 25% (15 Marks) – Analytical‑based questions
