9th Physics Pairing Scheme 2026 – All Punjab Boards

This official pairing scheme is designed for all educational boards in Punjab. It provides a complete chapter‑wise breakdown of multiple‑choice, short, and long questions for the 9th class Physics annual examination 2026.

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

The MCQ section includes questions from all nine chapters of the 9th Physics syllabus. According to the official scheme, the chapter‑wise distribution of MCQs is as follows:

  • Chapter 1 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 2 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 3 – 2 MCQs
  • Chapter 4 – 2 MCQs
  • Chapter 5 – 4 MCQs
  • Chapter 6 – 2 MCQs
  • Chapter 7 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 8 – 1 MCQ
  • Chapter 9 – 1 MCQ

Students must prepare all chapters thoroughly to secure full marks in the MCQ portion.

Short Questions – Three Sets (Q.2, Q.3, Q.4)

Students must attempt any 6 short questions from each of the three question sets. The pairing scheme clearly defines the number of questions offered from each chapter in every set:

  • Q. 2 – The short questions are offered from:
    • Chapter 1 – 3 questions
    • Chapter 2 – 2 questions
    • Chapter 3 – 3 questions
(Total 8 questions are offered; students must attempt any 6.)
  • Q. 3 – The short questions are offered from:
    • Chapter 4 – 3 questions
    • Chapter 5 – 3 questions
    • Chapter 6 – 2 questions
(Total 8 questions are offered; students must attempt any 6.)
  • Q. 4 – The short questions are offered from:
    • Chapter 7 – 3 questions
    • Chapter 8 – 3 questions
    • Chapter 9 – 2 questions
(Total 8 questions are offered; students must attempt any 6.)

Long Questions – Three Sets (Q.5, Q.6, Q.7)

The long questions are divided into two parts (a and b) for each question number. The chapter pairing is clearly defined:

  • Q. 5 – Part (a) and (b) are taken from Chapters 1, 2, and 3.
  • Q. 6 – Part (a) and (b) are taken from Chapters 4, 5, and 6.
  • Q. 7 – Part (a) and (b) are taken from Chapters 7, 8, and 9.

Important Notes for Long Questions

According to the official scheme, both part (a) and part (b) of any long question can be numerical problems or both can be theory questions. This may vary from board to board, so students are advised to prepare both theoretical concepts and numerical problems from all chapters.

Marks Distribution

The total paper is structured as follows:

  • 75% (45 Marks) – Knowledge‑based questions
  • 25% (15 Marks) – Analytical‑based questions

Students should focus on understanding fundamental concepts and also practice application‑based problems to perform well in both sections.
